KENNETH G WALKER was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 16, 1954 to Ezra and Zetherlene Walker. He was the youngest of six children - Ezra, Richard, Anita (James), Ronald (Phyllis), Eddie and Ken.
As a child Ken and his brothers were known for their love of music and their ability to create it with a variety of instruments. Ken would draw endless delight from playing the guitar and teaching it to his children. His artistry was not limited to his ear but was also seen in the perspective of his eye as his other passions were drawing, painting and photography.
Ken graduated in 1973 from Glenville High School and was later employed by Sears Roebuck & Co. for 30 years. His son had the privilege of working part time at Sears with his father during his high school years.
Family was very important to Ken. The only thing more important than family was his service to Jehovah. The year 1975 was very special for Ken. He symbolized his dedication to Jehovah and was baptized in March, 1975. He also met his future wife Sister Gail Benson and they were married in September 1975. The two would spend one month short of 51 years together.
Ken had the blessing of serving as an Elder with the support of his loving wife Gail. He had the added privilege of serving as a Theocratic Ministry School Overseer. Ken found joy in offering his time on various Kingdom Hall Quick Builds. He also set an example for his children of humbly taking the lead in the after-assembly hall cleaning assignments that often entailed being there late in the evening for what the children fondly remembered as the end of the night white glove test.
Ken leaves to cherish his memory:
Son: Kevin (Carly)
Daughters: Candace, Heather (Reuel), and Vanessa
With a host of nieces and nephews and cousins. The grander joy he had was of seeing his grandsons, Grayson, Crimson, Israel Battiest-Talton, be a part of his children's life.
One of his grandest joys of life can be summed up at 3rd John 4: "No Greater Joy do I have than this: that I should hear that my children go on walking in the truth."
Ken was affectionately known as Bro. Walking Tall. His hope and prayer would be for his family and friends to continue walking in the truth and be reunited in Paradise (John 5:28, 29).
